As a response to the recurring cases of migrants arriving in the Algarve illegally by boat, the Portuguese Navy has strengthened its southern fleet with an extra speedboat and corvette.
In a statement to the press, the Navy said it hopes to improve maritime surveillance in the area, increase its coverage and detect any illegal activity more promptly.
