Navy accompanying Russian submarine, tugboat during passage off coast

Since dawn today, Portugal’s navy has been accompanying two Russian ships – a submarine and a tugboat – during their passage off the country’s coast. In a statement, the Navy said that ocean patrol vessel Sines is accompanying the tugboat Sergey Balk and the submarine Krasnodar, in coordination with the service’s Maritime Operations Centre. The Russian ships, which arrived from the Mediterranean Sea, will be accompanied so long as they are in Portugal’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
