Portuguese naval divers taking part in ‘NATO mine countermeasures’ have successfully deactivated 26 unexploded mines dating back to World War II.
The mines formed a subaquatic explosive field laid by the British off the island of Fehmarn, in Germany.
First, divers had to locate them, and then came the adrenaline rush of setting them off.
Portuguese naval personnel remain working on the German minesweeper running these ops until September 29.
