Expomar fair is returning for the second year, with more stands and in a larger area than last year. The fair is taking place this weekend at Jardim Pescador Olhanense and Olhão Câmara is already announcing Expomar as “one of the largest events dedicated to the sea and its activities in the country”. Last year, Expomar was described as “a total success” and Olhão Câmara President, Francisco Leal, has promised that this year’s fair will be “better at all levels”. Expectations are increasing with the functioning Porto de Recreio, an infrastructure that the president has always considered fundamental to attract more visitors to the event.
The increase of 1,500sqm of exhibition area will allow larger stands, which will be dedicated to areas such as fishing, aquaculture and sports equipment.
Expomar is more than just a nautical exhibition and this may be the key to its success. Seminars and the divulgence of studies carried out in the field of marine biology, in collaboration with the Algarve University, the Faculty of Science in Lisbon and the Institute of Sea and Fishing Investigations (IPIMAR), are added attractions.
Also available for younger visitors are competitions, exhibitions of projects relating to the sea, diving lessons and environment awareness programmes.
