For the second time, the Algarve’s private hospital group HPA held a conference on autoimmunity which attracted a panel of distinguished speakers from all over Portugal.
The conference was held on October 27 and 28 at the HPA hospital in Alvor in front of a crowd of nearly 80 people.
The main goal was to share “knowledge and experience”.
Topics ranged from “important issues like the management of pain, celiac disease, fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis to lupus and pregnancy”.
Members of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine and the Centre of Studies of Autoimmune Diseases were among those who took part, and who praised the job that the HPA group has been doing in the Algarve, led by the “work and commitment of Dr Carlos Carneiro”.
Portimão mayoress Isilda Gomes also spoke highly of the group and Dr Carneiro’s dedication.
“This institution has been essential for the health of the Algarve’s citizens, due to the technological quality it offers, but especially due to the excellent professionals it boasts,” she said.
