Taking inspiration from ancient landscapes, folk legends and traditional music, Sarah Poland’s paintings are currently on show at Galeria Corte-Real in Paderne.
Working spontaneously on subjects abstracted from memory, she re-interprets and improvises what she has seen resulting in striking, contemporary compositions.
Born and brought up in the Scottish Highlands and trained at Edinburgh College of Art, she is now an active member of the Newlyn Society of Artists in Penzance, Cornwall, where she resides.
She is one of 35 international artists commissioned by Corte-Real.
The gallery, signposted from Ferreiras, Boliqueime and Paderne, is open from Thursday to Sunday, from 11am until 5pm.
