A Russian-owned boat carrying a Swedish flag was discovered drifting on Friday close to Tavira.
It was taken by the maritime police to the port at Olhão, where police are investigating the apparent disappearance of the crew.
The crew of the Zeelana were nowhere to be found and initial examination of the boat showed no traces of blood nor signs of a fight on board.
