The death of an 85-year-old man in Vila Nova de Gaia, and the brutal stabbing of his long-term partner is “shrouded in mystery”, says Correio da Manhã today. The man’s body was discovered on a downstairs patio, his wife – described as suffering serious problems of mobility – was found sitting in the upper floor of the property with serious stab wounds to her back. Elsewhere there were blood stains, bloody clothes and two kitchen knives on the ground. PJ police are ‘investigating’, says the paper, while the elderly woman is being treated in hospital. Neighbours have attested to ‘many episodes of domestic violence’.
