Mysterious oil rig spotted off Portimão coast anchored due to “poor weather”

Concerns over what seemed to be a mysterious oil rig parked off the coast of Portimão for several days have been calmed following the confirmation that the rig is being towed by a towboat and is en route to The Netherlands.

A source from the Portimão Port Captaincy told the Resident that the towboat had to stop for several days due to “poor weather” and that it was due to depart sometime today (Tuesday, March 17).

The Panamanian pusher departed from Brownsville, Texas in the USA on January 13. It was expected to arrive in Vlissingen, The Netherlands, on Wednesday, March 18.
