Musical training for children in Lagoa

Ideias do Levante, the cultural association of Lagoa, is launching musical training workshops for children and youngsters in October.

“Live Music Now”, as the project is called, will be led by musicians Gita Nasta and Francisco Brazão, and consist of two groups (ages 6-10 and 9-18) learning to develop vocal skills and dramatic talents in group and solo performances.

Students will be taught in both Portuguese and English and will meet on Fridays after school in Lagoa (a venue will be announced soon).

Gita Nasta is a composer, teacher and pianist, who has taught in many schools and countries around the world. During her 15 years in Belgium, she founded and directed the Brussels Youth Opera, which performed in major theatres both in Belgium and abroad. Since settling in Portugal, she has been Head of Music at the International School of the Algarve and is well known for her regular music theatre compositions and productions during the last two decades.

Francisco Brazão is a singer, teacher and choir director, who has performed many times in concert and opera under the direction of famous maestros. He has taught music and singing in many schools in the Algarve since 1995 and has been cooperating with Gita Nasta in her youth musical productions at the international school for the past eight years.

Starting on October 2, the Children’s Music Theatre workshop will run from 4pm to 4.45pm and cost €20 per child per month, while the Youth Music Theatre workshop will be from 4.45pm to 6pm and cost €30.
