Event || When long-time Algarve resident and businessman Bernard Jordan passed away in March of this year, it stirred the whole community. More than 200 people attended his memorial service at the International Evangelical Church in Vale Judeu to pay their last respects to a man whose hallmarks were integrity and humour in life, and stoicism and courage in his battle against cancer. Donations on the day raised some €600 which will help with the installation of a new sound system at the Church – very appropriate given Bernard’s love of music.
Thus a Celebration of Bernard’s Life will be held on the anniversary of his passing, on Saturday, March 14 next year.
His partner Tessa Tuson said: “The event will be built around a music quiz, which Bernard loved, and all the money raised will be donated to a cancer-related charity. I hope it can become an annual event, not only to honour a special person but also to continue Bernard’s legacy of putting something back into the local community.”
