Lagos voluntary firefighters are to benefit from a charity concert at the city’s cultural centre on Saturday, March 10 at 9pm.
Quintessence, the local jazz fusion band formed in 2000, will be presenting their ninth annual concert to raise much needed funds for Lagos Bombeiros Voluntários, but this year they are joined by two other groups of musicians – The Teds, a rock ‘n’ roll band, and Nem Truz Nem Muz with Amelia Janes, a popular Portuguese band.
This will give the evening a real variety of styles of music, namely Classic Jazz, Latin American, Rockabilly, and Classic Portuguese.
There will also be a raffle with many prizes donated by local businesses and residents.

Graham Roberts, organiser of the concert, told the Algarve Resident: “All proceeds from the concerts are paid to the Bombeiros as there are no expenses at all. The bands, the cultural centre, publicity and prizes for the raffle are all donated for free so that Quintessence can raise the maximum amount of money for the Bombeiros, which will be presented to them at the end of the Concert.”
Tickets cost €10 and can be obtained by telephoning 913 256 694 or the week prior to the Concert from Lagos Cultural Centre on 282 770 450.
