Vale do Lobo resort is hosting a string of weekend concerts and art workshops as part of its cultural programme for this summer.
The Vale do Lobo Music Sessions are described as “a summer of themed outdoor concerts featuring harp, violin, Portuguese guitar, jazz and classic sounds hosted at the stunning setting of Vale Real experience area, overlooking one of our iconic golf lakes”.
Adds the resort: “These exclusive open-air music performances, with very limited number of participants, are sure to provide unforgettable evening entertainment and a place to take it all in, soak up the sunset, the music and the surrounding views for ultimate relaxation.”
The musical programme started last weekend with three performances by the Algarve Jazz Orchestra, accompanied by the voice of Clara Buser.
This weekend, harpist Helena Madeira will take the stage at 8pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (August 12-14) to perform her own original songs as well as traditional pieces of classical music.
Festivities will continue the following weekend (August 20-22) with three concerts by Duo Amar Guitarra, comprising João Cuña and Pedro Mendes. The guitar-playing duo will explore several genres from Fado and Flamenco to Jazz.
The last weekend of August (August 27-29) will see a string of “intimate classical music concerts” with Carla Pontes (soprano) and Chiqui Garcia (classical guitar) interpreting “some of the most popular Spanish tunes from some of the most famous songwriters of all time.”
The programme will come to an end with three performances by Elisabete Martins (September 3-5) who will provide three “unforgettable evenings with a light and relaxed repertoire of themes from the American and Brazilian songbooks of the Jazz and Bossa Nova tradition.”
All concerts are free for resort members, while tickets cost €20 for the general public and can be purchased online at eventbrite.pt
Apart from the concerts, Vale do Lobo is also hosting several art workshops this summer which will allow participants to “develop their creativity”, from learning how to make copper jewellery to learning how to weave palm.
