POLICE WERE called when the bodies of an elderly couple were discovered last Thursday, in the hamlet of Soalheira, Loulé.
The woman, aged 72, was found dead on the living room sofa, while her 74-year-old husband was discovered next to the front door with a hunting rifle by his side. It is believed that he shot his wife, who suffered from Alzheimer’s, before turning the weapon on himself. The case is being investigated by the Faro Judicial Police.
