The mayor of Caminha – the PS politician who succeeded Miguel Alves when Alves took up his all too brief period in government – has cancelled the ‘contract’ that started this latest ‘scandal’ – the inference being that the €300,000 paid in advance rent for a building that was never constructed will now be returned to the borough council. Expresso however points out that the contract celebrating this less than transparent deal “has no clause that assures such repayment. There may be no way to recover this money…” the paper explains.
