The national association of municipalities is just one of the many entities that have refused to accept the government’s ‘Mais Habitação’ housing programme without some profound changes. The association is completely against the plan for the coercive leasing of vacant habitable property (a measure that President Marcelo has already said he would refer to the Constitutional Court) – but more to the point it wants to see effective measures to help young people get on the housing ladder, or be able to rent at today’s inflated prices.
