Municipal veterinary services

news: Municipal veterinary services

The municipality of Albufeira provides veterinary services that are open to the public on Mondays and Fridays between 9am and 11.30am and on Wednesdays from 2.30pm to 5pm.

The paid services are available at the municipality’s veterinary department (Serviços Veterinários Municipais da Câmara de Albufeira – SVMA) located at the Páteo facilities in Rua do Edifício Novo do Páteo.

It aims to ensure pets are being looked after properly by their owners, are in good health and have their vaccinations up to date.

The SVMA provides the following services: pet adoption, electronic identification (microchip) of dogs and cats, vaccination against rabies, collection and provision of accommodation for abandoned dogs and cats, and collection of dead animals.

A veterinarian and two technicians, besides diagnosing illnesses and performing medical procedures, will also be on hand to offer advice on questions regarding animal welfare.
