Residents in the Lagoa area are able to take advantage of the recently-opened municipal dump at Cerca da Lapa near to the Fatacil site.
Oversized rubbish is accepted at the dump, which also recycles old white goods such as fridges and freezers, electronic equipment such as computers, rubble and other surplus construction materials, garden waste and items that cannot fit into normal recycling bins.
Algar, the company that recycles the region’s waste, runs the dump with the aim of preventing unsuitable waste goods being left at normal recycling bins and instead being properly recycled.
The municipal dump is open Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm and on Saturday mornings from 9am until noon.
