MP urges government to take over EN125 project

Algarve MP Mendes Bota has urged the government to take over the project of the EN125 renovations, which have been at a standstill for years and are not included in the government’s list of 59 “national priority investments”.
The PSD politician says the road renovation project meets all the requirements to be part of the list.
“It would improve the efficiency of the region’s road network and reduce operational costs while increasing economic competitiveness. The work can also be completed in a short period of time,” Bota stressed in an official statement.
Meanwhile, the MP questioned how €10 million will be enough to carry out “all the improvements” the government has planned for the Portimão and Faro ports, which involve major construction works like dredging.
The social democrat also lamented that the Algarve is only being provided 2.1% of the plan’s total €6 billion funding. In total, the government is planning €131 million to be spent on improvements in the Algarve.
