MOZART’S REQUIEM will be performed at Lagoa Municipal Auditorium this Saturday, November 11, at 9.30pm.
The concert by the Beiras Philarmonic Orchestra, Regina Coeli Choir and singers Carlos Guilherme (tenor), Isabel Alcobia (soprano), Luís Rodrigues (baritone) and Margarida Reis (mezzo-soprano), forms part of the many commemorations taking place worldwide for the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s death.
Mozart’s Requiem is undoubtedly one of the most famous and well loved pieces of classical music. The Requiem was the last piece Mozart composed before his death at the age of 35.
It was left unfinished and there are many different tales that have been told over the years about the circumstances in which it was commissioned, how and where it was completed and by whom. It remains a mystery and is a continued source of fascination.
