In an exclusive interview, José Carlos Amorim, the Vigia Group’s new operations director, talks about the plans to make the group’s success even greater as well as their commitment to maintaining a high standard for clients.

Having taken over as the Vigia Group’s operations director on July 1, José Carlos Amorim is now settling into the position and working on strategies to improve the group’s eight resorts.

“My background in management positions at other groups such as the Tivoli Group, Real Group and Phoenix Group has given me the necessary experience to tackle this new position,” he said.

“My last position was as operations director for the Pestana Group’s resort in São Tomé e Principe.”

José Amorim said that he was looking to improve services for clients as well as create a new commercial dynamic at within the group.

“The Vigia Group offers luxury properties for sale and we have a number of packages that make owning a property accessible,” he said.

“Our clients are of the utmost importance and we believe that our services must also be at a very high standard. We have a full calendar of quality golfing events each year, which includes our autumn festival that starts on September 25 and a Captain’s day where golf captains from across the Algarve play in our tournament.”

As well as golf, the group also has a diverse range of other activities for clients such as tennis, football, spas and conference facilities, among others.

“We are planning to build a brand new football pitch at one of our resorts in the near future, so clients should look out for further news about that coming soon,” he said.

In order to keep ahead of the affects suffered across the tourism industry by the economic crisis, José Amorim said that the Vigia Group is looking towards new markets.

“We have had a very good response from the Portuguese, Spanish and German markets, which we are looking to attract, however we are also still very focused on our traditional markets from the UK and Ireland,” he said.
