This summer will see local musicians and bands performing on a moving bus in Lagoa as part of the second “A Cultura Sai à Rua” (Culture Out in the Street) initiative.
Says the local council, it is a way of supporting local musicians despite the “current epidemiological conditions”.
Over 40 artists are involved and will be performing from Tuesday to Friday between 6.30pm and 10.30pm (the schedule may be changed due to pandemic) starting this Thursday and continuing until the end of September. The bus will travel through the entire borough, the council explains.
Apart from live performances on the bus, there will also be sporadic concerts in closed venues “whenever the epidemiological situation allows”.
“Helping local artists is fundamental to keep culture alive as it is one of the most affected sectors by the pandemic,” said Lagoa Mayor Luís Encarnação.
He added that the initiative is about more than just “helping musicians as, indirectly, it will also help local businesses”.
