The Algarve’s most delicious cakes and sweets will be the stars of the 11th Feira de Doces d’Avó (Grandmother’s Sweets Fair).
Taking place on March 25-26 in Alcoutim, it will showcase all manner of traditional delights, from filhós (a kind of fried doughnut sprinkled with sugar and/or cinnamon), nógados (dried fruit sweets) and folares (Portugal’s traditional Easter cakes).
There will also be folar-making (March 25) and egg painting (March 26) workshops for children, both taking place between 3pm-5pm.
Street entertainment will be provided by music group ‘Os Caprichosos’.
Organised by Alcoutim council along the town’s riverside, the event takes place between 2pm-7pm.
Admission is free.
