THE ENGLISH Football Assocation is headhunting José Mourinho for the top job of England Coach with an 8.5 million euro a year offer.
If he accepts the job, the former Chelsea manager would receive 700,000 euros a month, making him the best paid football coach in the world.
The pay cheque is double that which was paid to former England Squad coach Steve McClaren, who received 3.5 million euros and was recently sacked over his failure to see England to the Euro 2008 finals.
“The Association has plenty of money to pay to the right man and we know how much the best coaches cost,” said a spokesman over the weekend.
The English Football Association is also considering other names like Italian Fabio Capello and German Jurgen Klinsmann but hopes to persuade the ‘special one’ into agreeing to take the post.
