Mount Olympus

After a quiet spell, the Algarve’s Portuguese men’s tennis champion Rui Machado returned in the headlines in Greece last weekend.

The 25-year-old from Faro collected the notable scalp of former world No12 Dominik Hrbaty before beating Spain’s Daniel Munoz 6-3, 7-6 to capture the ATP Athens Open. Now occupying his best-ever 129th place in the official rankings, Machado will play in Bulgaria and Turkey before returning for the Estoril Open.
