The president of the Portuguese motorhoming federation has said the Covid-led ‘ban’ on caravans and motorhomes parking in beachside car parks is “absurd, and quite nonsensical”. Totally understanding that authorities don’t want people staying overnight in car parks, he stressed that the ban as it is being enforced doesn’t even allow them to visit the beach like anyone else. So far, the government hasn’t budged on the policy.
The federation is thus demanding ‘clarification’, suggesting as things stand right now, the ruling is an attack on motorhomers’ constitutional right to free movement.
