Motorcross elite descend on Cortelha

CORTELHA, AN interior village within the borough of Loulé, will be the setting for another national motorcross championship, the 26th Prémio de Maio em Motocross, taking place on May 1. The emblematic event is being organised by the Associação dos Amigos da Cortelha.

The circuit benefits greatly from the spectacular serene landscape, making the motorcross event one of the best known and most appreciated of Algarve sports.

There are a few novelties this year to enhance the event’s standard format. The quality of the drivers entering this year is unequalled, but what is different from previous years is that the National All Terrains, Endurance and SuperMoto champions will also take part – drivers who do not normally participate in national motorcross events.

Competing this year are not only some of the best national drivers, but also some from Spanish motorcross, bringing together some of the very best drivers of recent years. More than 120 drivers are expected to take part in the event, which is being sponsored by Kawasaki, Delta Cafés, Super Bock beer, Águas do Algarve, Algar and Garvetur, with support from Loulé Câmara, the Algarve Tourism Board and Salir Junta de Freguesia.
