Festivities extend beyond racetrack with concerts, live broadcasts and freestyle trials
Portimão is gearing up for another MotoGP race this weekend and the festivities are extending beyond just the racetrack.
The town’s riverside has been turned into a ‘MotoGP Fun Zone’ which is hosting an array of events between Friday and Sunday (April 22-24), from live broadcasts of the practices and races to concerts and freestyle trials.
Festivities are due to begin this afternoon at 4pm with the arrival of Portuguese racer Miguel Oliveira, who will look to repeat this weekend his 2020 win at the Algarve International Racetrack, for an escorted ride to the racetrack.
Friday will mark the return of events to the ‘Fun Zone’ with a series of motorcycle freestyle trials at 5pm and 9pm, as well as a concert by Portuguese singer Toy at 9.30pm. DJ Deelight will keep the party going until 1am.
The freestyle trials will continue on Saturday at 4pm and 9pm, with musical entertainment being provided by Linkin Park tribute band Hybrid Theory at 9.30pm, followed by DJ Francisco Gil who will be celebrating the 1980s.
Singer Janita Salomé will bring the festivities to a close with a concert on Sunday at 9pm.
