In athletics, the world’s best long-distance runners take to the road first in Hungary this week, and then for the Chicago marathon on October 22. Motor sport fans will find out who will become 2006 champion after the Brazilian Grand Prix on the same day, while the rally crown should be decided in Turkey and Australia on October 15 and 29. The MotoGP season culminates with the Estoril (Portugal) and Valencia (Spain) races on October 15 and 29. Golf bags are not quite packed for the winter: the USPGA Classic takes place in Florida from October 19 to 22, the same time as the European Tour meets on Majorca; the American Chrysler championship and the Volvo Masters at Valderrama (Spain) then follow between October 26 and 29. Tennis’s Kremlin Cup is being played in Moscow until this weekend, followed by the ATP Madrid and Paris Masters commencing on October 16 until October 30. International Rugby is back on October 21 and 28, Australia taking on New Zealand before the latter take on Great Britain. The American baseball season begins on October 21, while the Ski World Cup sees its first action in Austria on October 28.
