Germany’s Sachsenring was the scene for the latest stage of the MotoGP.
Nicky Hayden celebrated his birthday by taking top order on the grid with Sete Gibernau in second, Barros in third and runaway leader Valentino Rossi in fourth. “Il Duttore” tracked close rival Sete Gibernau, who led the field throughout most of the race until capitalising on a mistake by the Spanish rider on the penultimate lap. Taking the chequered flag for the eighth time in 10 races, Rossi has surely tied up an unprecedented fifth title, well ahead of the end of this year’s championship. John Hopkins was thrown off his bike after 25 laps and Nicky Hayden took third.
