Mother of miracle baby Martim says “he was kidnapped”

Despite police discounting the kidnap theory, the mother of baby Martim who vanished for 25 hours in Ourém last week, only to reappear safe and sound 2km away, says she is certain he was kidnapped, and then released when the furore of his disappearance became so intense. Sandrina Silva says nothing adds up, particularly as Martim was “not especially dirty, cold, traumatised or hungry” when he was found.

The investigation into Martim’s extraordinary story continues, while the child has returned to his ‘normal everyday routine without showing any outward signs of the drama’, reports Correio da Manhã, stressing police still believe the two year old left the house on his own, walking a path he had never taken before, and showing “unusual resistance to cold and hunger”.
