Mother freed

Teachers, janitors, parents and children of the José Relvas Group of Schools in Alpiarça, near Santarém, managed to raise enough money last week to free a mother of two, jailed for the non-payment of judicial costs dating back to case in 2006. Reporting the heart-warming story, Correio da Manhã said that the school launched their campaign on Tuesday last week, and in 24 hours had raised €2,000, more than enough to get the woman out of prison and back home to her children.
