Mother allergic to her own baby

A new mother was unable to care for her newborn baby without being covered in burning rashes and blisters.

Joanne Mackie, 28, from Erdington in England, was unable to cuddle or pick up her new baby boy, James, as she was in so much pain.

Before she went near her son, she had to cover herself with muslin cloth.

She has been diagnosed with a rare skin disease caused by an allergic reaction to her baby which is developed during pregnancy.

After being put on a strong course of steroids, she was able to take care of James like any other new mother without being in pain.
