Motel closed by ASAE inspectors

Motel Parque Algarvio in Lagoa, one of the oldest such establishments in the Algarve, was closed by health and safety inspectors after safety conditions failed to meet those required by law.

The lack of a fire emergency plan and “old and inadequate” gas installations led to the closure of the three star motel, established since 1973.

According to Correio da Manhã newspaper, ASAE inspectors visited the motel recently when “multiple safety failures” were detected. A spokesman for the motel said all efforts were being made for the establishment to re-open as soon as possible as it was suffering significant business losses.
