Most traders in old Porto market hall unhappy after revamp – survey

The majority of traders with stalls in Porto’s iconic Bolhão Market – a covered market built in 1914 that reopened a year ago after lengthy renovation – are unhappy with the current management by municipal company GO Porto, according to a consultation exercise carried out by the Bolha de Água trade association. The results of the consultation are based on participation by 58 of the 72 traders with stalls in the market building. Says Lusa, the majority (92%) say that the market’s regulations are not in line with its management needs and that operating rules are inadequate. “This is worse than a shopping centre, it’s a dictatorship” was perhaps one of the most forceful comments.
