Most expensive nature film ever made in Portugal premieres today

“Montado”, a Portuguese-Spanish documentary directed by Joaquín Gutiérrez Acha, premieres in cinemas today and is being billed as the most expensive nature film made in Portugal. It took more than three years to complete, and focuses on the oak tree forest ecosystem that occupies a third of the Iberian Peninsula’s forested areas (56% in Portugal and 44% in Spain). Says Lusa, “Montado” has as it stars the Iberian Lynx and all the flora and fauna that accompany the forest between Portugal and Spain. Sadly it premieres on a day that so much World Heritage forest is still being consumed in the north by wildfires.
