Moroccan who denied terror charges jailed for 12 years

Moroccan Abdesselam Tazi – in preventive custody since 2017 – has been condemned to 12 years behind bars for crimes of related to international terrorism.

Accused of recruiting in Portugal for Daesh, Tazi, 65, has always maintained his innocence.

Last year, his lawyer Lopes Guerreiro said the Public Ministry’s case “did not give the slightest sign” that the former policeman was in fact guilty (click here).

It’s unclear whether Tazi will lodge an appeal.
