More than 90 members and guests of the Algarve Wine Society enjoyed a Moroccan themed society summer party at a private house in Vale do Lobo to mark the end of the summer season of events.
The Moroccan style meal was preceded by an informal tasting of 12 different wines from the Santo Isidro de Pogões winery and presented by Eva Figueira and Inês Pimental including the Adega de Pegões, a blend of Arinto and chardonnay.
A Moroccan buffet was provided by Gisela Matthijs of Fine Dining in Style and included a roasted rack of lamb, spicy kebabs, a tajine of beef and poached saffron pears with lavender honey pistachio ice cream.
The meal was followed by dancing to music provided by the Two Plus Two Band while other members enjoyed a traditional Shisha Pipe.
The Algarve Wine Society summer party has become the traditional closure of the organisation’s Spring programme with activities from the society beginning again in September.
A trip to Cape Province in South Africa will take place between September 17 and 25 while for those remaining in the Algarve there will be a trip to Herdade de Mingorra on September 21.
The Algarve Wine Society’s membership is at its upper limit, and there is a waiting list, but if you would like further information about the Society please email [email protected].
