Moroccan arrested

A MAN was arrested on Thursday, February 28, appeared in court later the same day and was held in preventive custody for allegedly leading an operation of car thefts and house robberies in the Algarve.

Habib el Jouti, 42, had been sought by Portuguese Police for several months.  According to a Portuguese daily newspaper, he was spotted when driving on the EN125, close to Tavira. As the car had a “strange” Spanish number plate, the GNR brigade called the border control, in Vila Real de Santo António, to check it out and it was discovered that the car was stolen.
