Morgado do Quintão throws End of Harvest Party

On October 7, the Lagoa winery is opening its doors to celebrate the end of the grape harvest season with Algarve wines, “the best pig on a spit in the world”, a concert under an ancient olive tree and a disco under the stars.

Lagoa winery Morgado do Quintão is hosting its annual end-of-harvest party on October 7. This year, the doors of the estate open on Saturday afternoon at 18h00 for a programme of activities scheduled to last until the early hours of the morning.

There will be plenty of wine served at the Open House – Harvest Party to be enjoyed with what is famed as “the best pig on a spit in the world” and local gastronomy, to the sound of Algarve folklore, pop, jazz, African beats and more.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in wine tastings and learn more about the native Negra Mole grape variety, discover one of the star wines of this celebration, indulge in the pig on the spit made by Feito no Zambujal, and enjoy a performance by the Rancho Folclórico do Calvário, ambassadors of Algarve folklore.

At 21h00, musician Janeiro, who represents a new generation of Portuguese artists, will perform underneath the ancient olive tree – an iconic symbol of Morgado do Quintão, where artists such as Carminho, Bruno Pernadas and Mário Laginha have already performed.

The night continues with several surprises and conversations around the firepit, ending on a high note with the musical choices of DJ Rykardo, who combines jazz, funk, hip hop, soul, African, Cuban and Brazilian rhythms in his set, and Sandra Baldé, also known as Umafricana, who promises hot beats to warm up as visitors dance under the stars.

For Morgado do Quintão, “The event is a celebration of Algarve wine, the territory and the culture of one of the region’s most unconventional producers”. With the Monchique mountains in the backdrop, the winery welcomes curious wine lovers, families and friends who wish to experience the region’s culture and enjoy a special moment overlooking the Algarve’s oldest vineyards.

“This Open House is yet another moment that reflects our commitment to the region and the richness of the Algarve’s wine heritage,” says Filipe Caldas de Vasconcellos, owner of the winery.

Tickets are on sale on the winery’s website for €40 per person, and for the Lagoa area residents, the ticket price is €20 and can be purchased online or directly at Morgado do Quintão.

All tickets give access to the event and include two glasses of wine (Clarete de Negra Mole 2022) and a snack. *Wine tastings are paid separately on-site.
