Morgado Golf Course in Portimão is celebrating its 20th anniversary on Friday (February 3) with a number of special initiatives for its players.
All players at the golf course on Friday will be entered into a prize draw which will award two lucky winners with vouchers for “a two-night, half-board stay in a double-bedroom with two green fees and the rental of a buggy” included.
The special occasion will also be celebrated with reduced prices for the rental of buggies, which will cost €20 as opposed to the usual €50.
Last but not least, a cake will also be shared among staff and players at 3pm.
Jorge Papa, Director at Morgado Golf Course, has stressed the evolution of the golf course from its early days to now.
“It’s been 20 years since the day that we put up a sign reading ‘open’, on an A4 piece of paper, at the entrance to the clubhouse. That is how we announced the opening of Morgado, without pomp or circumstance,” the director said.
As he explained, access to the golf course was through a dirt road which cut across the estate and was still in need of “much work” before reaching the level it is at today.
“Since then, much has happened. We have hosted three Portugal Opens, several tournaments of the Portuguese Golf Federation calendar and many other prestigious tournaments,” he said. “It isn’t just the golf course that deserves to be congratulated but the whole team that is still here after 20 years.”
