Statistics released for June by INE (national statistics institute) show that Lisbon, Funchal and Porto were already attracting more overnight stays than in 2019 (pre-pandemic). Lisbon’s growth was quite small (0.5%), but Funchal saw 14.6% more tourists (translating into 520,400 overnight stays), and Porto saw an increase of 6.2%. June did not see any increases for popular destinations like Albufeira (Algarve), but that is almost certainly because the ‘tourist season’ there does not get going before mid-July.
