More than 80 nurses at Penafiel Hospital request “excuse of responsibility”

More than 80 nurses working at Penafiel Hospital have requested ‘excuse of responsibility’, on the basis that the number of professionals at the State facility is not enough to guarantee healthcare with any security or quality. João Carvalho, representing the Order of Nurses in the north of Portugal, says the development is a “cry of alert” for authorities to finally get to grips with serious staffing problems that have been making themselves more and more apparent at the hospital over recent weeks and months.
