More than 100 lawyers protest in gowns against alterations proposed to Statutes

The anger of professional orders to proposed government meddling continued today, with a protest involving around 100 lawyers in their courtroom gowns outside the Central Criminal Court in Lisbon. The plan had been to show discontent as the subject was due to be discussed in conference with members of the government – but PSP insisted protestors were moved ‘well back’ which saw some complain that even lawyers’ right to protest is being undermined.
