FESTIVAL organisers SHOW 4U have announced that Andy Smith, the DJ from Portishead, is the latest artist to confirm he will perform alongside the Chemical Brothers at the República Independente festival, due to take place in the Algarve on July 17. The venue for the 24-hour party is still to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, Irish pop/rock band The Corrs have confirmed that they will perform at the new football stadium in Braga on July 16. This will be the first time the group have performed in Portugal. More details of the concert will follow in the next few weeks. And Vilar dos Mouros promoters have confirmed that American music veteran Bob Dylan will be closing the festival on July 18. The singer/songwriter is the second name confirmed for the three day event, the first being the Chemical Brothers, who will open the event on July 16. The concert is the last chance to see Dylan on his European tour.
