The Algarve should have double the mooring space in its marinas to keep up with the competition according to the vice-president of the regional tourism board, ERTA, Almeida Pires.
The existing 2,500 moorings available in the Algarve’s marinas in Portimão, Lagos, Vilamoura and Albufeira are not enough for nautical tourism to expand in the region, according to Almeida Pires.
“Doubling the number of spaces is fundamental,” he said.
A development model for nautical tourism is being prepared by the ERTA.
