Newspapers have had a field day over the latest Madeleine revelations since Met officers flew into Faro on Monday.
Now, the three burglars that have been widely reported to be “imminently” slapped with arrest warrants turn out to be three former employees from the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz – the complex on which the McCanns were staying when their eldest child disappeared in 2007, reports Correio da Manhã.
The newspaper suggests Scotland Yard detectives have asked PJ police to look into the trio’s bank accounts – to see if there are any clues there.
But the McCanns’ lawyer in Portugal, Rogério Alves, has told the Daily Mail that reports that arrests are indeed imminent are “improbable”, while the newspaper adds that the McCanns have refused to comment.
