More accidents but fewer deaths were registered on Algarve roads in 2016, a report by Portugal’s road safety authority (ANSR) has revealed.
A total of 31 people were killed on regional roads (down from 37 in 2015) while 10,241 accidents were registered (up from 9,490).
In Portugal as a whole the tendency was the same.
The number of casualties on national roads dropped from 473 to 447, while crashes were up from 122,800 to 127,210.
