British band Morcheeba will be playing the Centro de Congressos do Arade at Encosta do Arade, in Parchal, on July 22.
Morcheeba relies on the sweet, fluid vocals of Skye Edwards and a laid-back mix of fusion, funk, and blues produced by brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey, on beats/scratches and guitar/keyboards, respectively.
After the release of two EPs, Trigger Hippie and Music That We Hear, the trio issued their debut album, Who Can You Trust? After that Morcheeba toured the US with Live and Fiona Apple.
The band mixes influences from rock, trip hop, rhythm and blues and pop and released its latest album Blood Like Lemonade in June 2010.
Meanwhile, on July 23, Vale do Lobo hosts a show of classical music in a tribute to Andrew Lloyd Webber performed by Sofia Escobar and the Algarve Orchestra.
He has achieved great popular success in musical theatre, and has been referred to as “the most commercially successful composer in history”.
Several of his musicals have run for more than a decade, both in the West End and on Broadway.
