Monte Gordo unveils three-day New Year party, including performance by singing mayor

Portugal’s famous singers Anjos are the headliners of Monte Gordo’s three-day New Year’s Eve programme, which promises “tons of music and amazing fireworks” along the small town’s Marginal avenue.

The party begins on Thursday, December 29 at 9.30pm with performers including hip-hop group Possessivo com Soulution, covers band Allmariados and Portuguese music group Uns & Outros, as well as DJs Karussa Jr and Bruno Lourenço.

Festivities continue the following night at 10pm with pop rock groups Jorge Querido & Grab it Band and Vide Versus – though the highlight promises to be a performance by duo Baby Lores e Luís – Luís being none other than Luís Gomes, PSD mayor of Vila Real de Santo António.

Gomes recorded a song and video clip with Baby Lores this year, later telling SIC that it is a “dream come true” and that he is planning to launch a record with the Cuban artist.

Their performance will be followed by two DJ sets by Dominique and the Alpha Heroes.

Finally, the agenda for New Year’s Eve features a performance by Duo Reflexo to keep revellers entertained until midnight.

Following the fireworks display, Anjos will finally take the stage while DJs Gemma, Flip D’Palm and Smash will keep the party going through the night.

“New Year’s in Monte Gordo will once again be a standout event in the Algarve,” vows VRSA’s singing mayor.

A much smaller entertainment programme is planned for the town of VRSA, where local singer Zé Anibal will lead the New Year’s Eve party between 10.30pm and 1am at Praça Marquês do Pombal.
